These are some before-and-after photos of a building in downtown St. Paul. The facade on the skywalk level was re-done between June and October–it looks much sharper, don’t you think?
Being a Mommy
Sometimes, being a mommy is all snowman pajamas and snuggling under blankets with books and stirring cookie dough and naming stuffed animals. Those times are beautiful, but rare.
More often, being a mommy is wiping snotty noses and cleaning up spills and saying please-get-down-from-there and no-you-can’t-have-a-snack-before-supper fourteen times a minute while trying to fold laundry, cook a meal and learn how to use new software simultaneously. Those times are not so beautiful and much more common.
Lord, give me the fortitude to count both kinds of time as a blessing!
(Markus does great karaoke…here he was singing Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog,” I’m pretty sure.)
Construction Photos – Part 1
As I’ve mentioned before, I shoot buildings in addition to people. Particularly, newly-constructed buildings and tenant improvement projects. I don’t often post them during my busy season, but I thought I’d do a little compilation of my 2009 work. Just a few of my favorites.
Markus Stars in a Horror Film
Honestly, I think he could have a career ahead of him. Job description: Look shocked, frightened, and alarmed. :)
Markus – MY Newborn!
This has been an exciting week for our family! On Tuesday morning at 1:44 a.m., we welcomed 9 lb, 1 oz Markus to the world! He is the most scrumptious little boy on the planet (not that I’m biased). He is also a champion poser, and he let me do anything I wanted to him and slept peacefully through it all. It definitely helps that he’s less than a week old (just an FYI for any of you planning to schedule newborn shoots–before they turn 2 weeks is the best timing).
So, without further ado, our littlest, newest blessing from above:
“Mom, are you done yet? This is boring…”

His wrinkly little feet. He has the baggiest skin, too, like if he had gone another week he might have grown into it (thank goodness he came when he did, though–don’t know if I could have handled a 10-pounder!)

And he is just covered with the softest fuzz. Oh, I miss him already–better go cuddle!

The Princess Dress
My sister-in-law made Anja a princess dress for Christmas, and she is loving it! So here you have…one photo that Grandma will like:

And one photo that Mama likes:

Oh, and by the way, Grandma? The necklace that sings like Ariel? After 10 minutes straight of that voice yesterday, it got put in “time out.”
Displaying your photographs
A lot of my 2009 clients have placed and received orders in the last couple of weeks. Some will be sharing their prints with relatives for Christmas. I thought I’d offer some very classy options for displaying your photographs.
In addition to gallery wraps (which look fabulous by themselves or in multiples, hung in a grouping on a wall) and albums, I’ve found some frame vendors that will fit most styles and budgets. Here are a few of my favorites (click on the image or the link to be directed to their websites):
Merry Christmas!
I go on maternity leave tomorrow, but I will still be answering emails off and on from now until April. Hope you all have a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year!
2010 Senior – Jordyn
What a week this has been! My computer had to be completely re-formatted yesterday (thanks, Hubby!), and I had to redo my set-up for photo editing, which took quite a while. But we’re back in business, just in time for a sneak peek of sweet senior Jordyn.
If you’re wondering how you can have porcelain skin like Jordyn’s, I don’t know the secret. But if you want to know how to have perfect rosy cheeks for your photos, schedule a December shoot! It was bitterly cold, but Jordyn was such a trooper!
We met at Centennial Lakes for some semi-snowy shots, and thankfully the pavilion was open so we got to step in and warm up a few times.
I loved the variety of patterns converging at one point in this one.

Jordyn plays clarinet, so as a former flute player, I was honored to photograph a fellow woodwind!

Whether like Grandma’s or not (inside joke), this was one of my favorites.

Mom and Little Sister joined her for the last part of her shoot, and things got silly fast! Tends to happen when you’re eight…

Thanks for sticking out the cold, Jordyn–hope you enjoy the rest of your year!
Booking for 2010!
I am currently accepting session bookings for mid-April 2010 and after. It’s especially important to check on dates ASAP if you are looking for a specific date, as I already have some weddings lined up.
