Engaged – Dave & Cristina

Cristina and Dave set a new record for me…the number of times I’ve had to postpone a session! We got rained out three times! But it was worth it, because Saturday we had the most beautiful day and a great time, to boot! My buddy Jenny of Maven Floral was there with a cute sign and a picnic that was as tasty for the mouth as it was for the eyes. I swear she has a magic “make things pretty” wand. Or…TALENT.:)

Dave and Cristina are adorable together. They met through a mutual friend. Cristina said she was flirting hardcore, but Dave barely seemed to notice. He must’ve, though, because he got her number from the friend, and they’ve been together since!

It was so refreshing to be around such genuine l.o.v.e.

Circles Baby Shower

Last weekend I had the pleasure of hosting a family baby shower for my sister-in-law, Tiffany, and my cousin, Heather. We don’t know the babies’ genders, so I came up with a gender-neutral “circles” theme. My mom was there to help the night before and day of, and it was sooooo good to have her pitching in (not to mention she paid for everything)! She also made the caramel rolls, for which she is somewhat famous (at least in our family).:)

Here are the lovely moms-to-be!

I had so much fun making all the paper details for this shower. My sewing machine has probably been through paper more than it has cloth!

I’m kind of a dork with themes, and I wanted the food to all be circles, too. Jenny at Maven Floral & Event Styling did flowers for me, and as usual, went completely above and beyond my expectations. Aren’t the embroidery hoops a fabulous addition to the circle theme? Love it!

The parents of the parents-to-be sent me baby photos of each of them, so we got to imagine what these two little ones are going to look like. So fun!

I’m not super into shower games, so we decorated onesies for each baby. There were some creative ideas! (Thanks for sharing your fabric markers, Mags!)

Heather had at least six thousand stuffed Snoopy dogs when we were kids.

And this is the first time we’ve all been together since Heather’s wedding, so I had to have a group shot.

I took a few more photos of the flowers before I cleaned stuff up. They were just so pretty!

Spring Brunch – Maven Floral & Event Styling

My friend and colleague Jenny of Maven Floral & Event Styling was watching her nieces and nephews in March and threw them a lovely little brunch. I got to photograph it, and of course I wanted to share a few frames here since I love what she does!

Apple Orchard Inspiration Wedding*

In July, I was blessed to meet the fabulous Jenny Kleven at Tom and Katie’s wedding. I was blown away by her work, and I’m so glad I got time to chat with her at the reception.

Fast forward a month or so, and she made a gorgeous centerpiece for my friend Maggie’s shower. I asked if she would be willing to collaborate on an inspiration shoot, and this “wedding” was born.

Even though they don’t officially host weddings, the owners of Sweetland Orchard, the super-kind and super-helpful Mike and Gretchen, agreed to let us photograph there. I have visited many orchards in the area, but I want to tell you all this: you have not eaten a good apple until you’ve visited Sweetland. Their dedication to their work shows in every apple. Gretchen told me that Mike is uber-picky about when he will allow the apples to be picked. They have to be perfect before he will sell them–peak taste and crunch. I have eaten enough Ginger Golds this week to fill my own tree; they are so good.

Unbelievable dresses, shoes and accessories were provided by The Loft Bridal (thanks, Sara!) and Sacks in the City. The dresses they had were so lovely I wanted to buy one myself!

We gathered some other great vendors (see detailed list at end of post!), and Jen pulled everything together to create the most beautiful set-up I have ever seen. If you are looking for someone to coordinate your wedding, give you the most unique and beautiful bouquets, or even just do up an inspiration board to help you plan your big day, SHE’S YOUR GIRL.

Without further ado, here’s the eye candy!

Bars Bakery contributed desserts. We may have eaten them all after the shoot, and they were yummy! Paper Rock Scissor also made the adorable little banner on the dessert table.

A Day* in the Life of…my 2-yr-old

He’s growing up so fast, ever exploring, testing his boundaries. I love holding him on my lap as we read (his head still just barely fits under my chin), sniffing his hair (this is genetic, I am SURE of it), naming colors and numbers and body parts and animals. I invent songs and games just to keep him snuggling, keep him small, keep him my baby, for a moment longer…

Then he is off and running again, jumping off things, dumping things out, pulling things down…a cyclone. My cyclone.
